New England Life Flight, Inc. d/b/a/ Boston MedFlight (BMF), is a consortium sponsored nonprofit critical care transport service, whose mission is to link those patients most critically ill and injured with the life saving resources they require. Created in 1985 through a collaborative effort of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston Medical Center, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Children’s Hospital Boston, Massachusetts General Hospital and Tufts Medical Center, Boston MedFlight maintains a fleet of three helicopters, a jet and three ground critical care vehicles..
As an integrated multimodality critical care transport service, Boston MedFlight strives to match the appropriate transport asset with individual patient needs. Our goal is to provide high acuity patients with safe, high quality transport care in a cost efficient fashion. As the sole regional airmedical and ground critical care provider, BMF partners with tertiary and community hospitals, and private and public EMS services throughout the region. Additionally BMF was a founding member of the North East Air Alliance, a cooperative alliance between all of the airmedical providers in New England.
Boston MedFlight is a leader in the use of performance measures and quality metrics in the critical care transport community. Boston MedFlight’s performance improvement system has been identified as a best practice by CAMTS.
